Currently there is no UK regulating body to monitor private
medical services and ultrasound services in pregnancy care and gynaecology.
Recently the advent of 4D ultrasound has
brought about the development of a number of ultrasound imaging studios with minimal obstetric medical involvement and no
mechanism for managing problems identified on scan. This is a lost opportunity for potentially optimising the outcome of the
pregnancy.
